As an Agronomy Sales Specialist, you’ll partner directly with local growers to help them maximize yield, improve profitability, and strengthen long-term relationships with the cooperative. You’ll provide trusted agronomic advice, deliver tailored crop-input solutions, and actively grow market share through excellent service and strategic sales execution.
Build and maintain strong relationships with area growers through proactive service and solution-based selling.
Recommend the best seed, fertilizer, crop protection, and treatment plans to optimize yield and return on investment.
Scout fields regularly for pests, weeds, and diseases, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
Execute marketing and sales plans to achieve sales goals and expand territory market share.
Conduct on-farm visits, schedule appointments, and perform occasional cold calls to develop new business.
Stay informed on competitive pricing, product launches, and market trends; report insights to management.
Leverage ag-tech tools and data to enhance recommendations and improve grower efficiency.
Submit weekly sales call reports and maintain accurate customer records.
Support cooperative credit policies and work cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
Participate in meetings, training sessions, and professional development as requested.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Business, Marketing, or related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience (5+ years total).
Minimum 2 years of agronomy experience and 2 years of outside sales experience.
Strong knowledge of soil science, crop nutrition, and pest management principles.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ag-tech software tools.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
Mix of office, field, and farm-visit environments.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
Must occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
